About Newington, New Hampshire

The bustling town of Newington was founded in 1764 as part of Dover and Squamscott known as Bloody Point. The name derived from a successful counter attack against Indians in the year 1600. In 1714 the town was given the name Newington Parish following a boundary dispute with Greenland. Today, almost half of the town’s 8.5 square miles of land is occupied by The Pease Developmental Authority, originally ceased by the U.S. Air Force during the 1900’s. The remaining sum of land is home to around 750 residents and a prevalent industrial community.
